Nepali Congress Central Committee meeting postponed again

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress Central Working Committee meeting has been postponed once more. The party has been repeatedly delaying the meeting as it has not reached a concrete decision regarding the party’s general convention.

The meeting, which was inaugurated by party president Sher Bahadur Deuba on October 14, is still yet to conclude.

General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma are strongly in favor of holding a special general convention at the earliest. However, the establishment faction led by party president Deuba insists that the general convention should only be held after the House of Representatives election on March 5, 2026.

General Secretary Thapa has argued that the period for holding the regular general convention has already passed and that a special convention is now the only option.

With no agreement on the issue, the Nepali Congress meeting continues to be postponed.
