Bibeksheel Sajha Party to merge with Rastriya Swatantra Party, announcement on Sunday

KATHMANDU: The Bibeksheel Sajha Party is set to merge with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). A meeting of Bibeksheel Sajha on Wednesday decided to formally unify with RSP.

RSP leader Shishir Khanal said the unification announcement will take place on Sunday at the Rashtriya Sabha Griha. He confirmed that all necessary procedures for the merger have been completed and Bibeksheel Sajha leaders will be given positions within RSP with due respect.

Following the merger, the current leadership of Bibeksheel Sajha, Chair Sumika Baskota, General Secretary Ranju Darshana and Vice-Chair Prakash Chandra Pariyar,  will be recognised as leaders of RSP.

Pariyar, who is also coordinator of the party’s dialogue committee, said the decision aligns with their unanimously approved proposal for greater unification among alternative political forces. He added that the ongoing Gen-Z movement has accelerated the need for unity to drive development, prosperity and good governance.

The parties say remaining technical issues will be resolved soon through mutual understanding. The unification aims to honour the legacy of late Ujwal Thapa, founder of the alternative political movement, and strengthen their impact in future elections.
