Prachanda announces property disclosure of all Maoist leaders



KATHMANDU: Chair of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has announced that all party leaders will be required to make their assets public.

Addressing the party’s seventh central committee meeting, Prachanda said a property investigation commission will be formed, and the assets of all leaders will be disclosed.

He stressed the need for new work practices in the management of families, secretariats, and cadres, saying, “The old ways will not work anymore; we must move ahead with new procedures and approaches.”

According to him, transformation is necessary not only in organizational practices but also in personal lifestyle and cultural behavior. He directed leaders to submit written suggestions on how to simplify and make their eating habits, attire, and relations with the general public more people-oriented.

Following the meeting, the Maoist Center transformed its central committee into a convention organizing committee. The party said it will take initiatives to ensure that the elections are held on the announced date.
