Swiss Ambassador pays courtesy call on Home Minister Gurung



KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Danielle Meuwly, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Sudan Gurung on Wednesday at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the meeting, Ambassador Meuwly congratulated Home Minister Gurung and wished him success in his tenure.

On the occasion, Home Minister Gurung urged the Swiss Ambassador to facilitate collaboration between the two countries regarding investigations into high-ranking Nepali officials suspected of unlawfully amassing wealth.

According to his secretariat, Minister Gurung requested Swiss authorities to take necessary measures to cooperate in verifying whether Nepali officials had illegally deposited money obtained through corruption or other crimes in Swiss banks, and to assist in repatriating such funds to the Nepalese government if found.

Acknowledging Minister Gurung’s decade-long experience and notable contributions to the disaster management sector, Ambassador Meuwly expressed Switzerland’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with Nepal to strengthen early warning systems and reduce the risks posed by climate change and disasters.
