Nepal beat Australia’s ACT Comet by 41 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal secured a 41-run victory over Australia’s ACT Comet side in a practice T20 match on Tuesday morning.

After winning the toss, ACT opted to field first, giving Nepal the chance to set the target. Nepal posted 177 runs for the loss of eight wickets, led by opener Aasif Sheikh’s explosive 69 off 39 balls. Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 26 runs from 28 deliveries, while Aarif Sheikh added a quick 24 from 18. Other batsmen, however, failed to make notable scores.

Chasing 178, ACT fell short, bowled out for 136 in 17.2 overs. Nepal’s bowlers kept consistent pressure throughout the innings to secure the comfortable win. Sandeep Lamichhane took a hat-trick.

According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the team is currently in Australia for a series of practice matches. Between August 26 and 30, Nepal will play two T20s each against ACT and South Australia, followed by a one-day match against South Australia on August 30.
