Japanese encephalitis infection confirmed in one person in Tanahu



DAMAULI: A case of Japanese encephalitis has been confirmed in Tanahu district. The infection was detected in an 80-year-old man from Bhimad Municipality-2.

Sudip Kandel, Information Officer at the Public Health Office, Tanahu, said the infection was confirmed during testing at New Medical College in Chitwan. Following the diagnosis, the health office initiated contact tracing and a public awareness campaign in the affected area.

A team led by the office chief, Amar Dawadi, reached the ward and conducted testing among local residents to assess the spread of the infection.

Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito-borne viral disease that affects the brain. Health experts warn that the infection can severely damage the nervous system and may even lead to death if not treated in time
