Teej a symbol of emotional unity: President

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the Teej festival is not only a religious celebration but also a symbol of emotional unity, love, compassion, and creativity.

He emphasized the importance of protecting and promoting the festival and its cultural significance.

Extending his best wishes on the occasion of Haritalika (Teej) 2025, a major festival celebrated by Nepali Hindu women, President Paudel wished for happiness, peace, prosperity, and religious, cultural, and social harmony among Nepali women and sisters at home and abroad.

During this festival, Nepali women traditionally worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parbati and observe fasts, praying for the well-being and prosperity of their families. The festival reflects centuries-old customs, lifestyles, and the values of social tolerance and solidarity.

President Paudel stated that Teej has played a vital role in nurturing brotherhood, morality, mutual unity, reconciliation, loyalty, patience, and dedication within families and society.

“I hope that the Teej festival inspires new enthusiasm and vitality in everyone to build a civilized and egalitarian society by ending all forms of injustice, including discrimination and violence against women,” he said.

He further noted that women, as symbols of peace and inspiration, hold a prominent place in nature and creation. Therefore, it is important to uphold the dignity of such traditional festivals in a respectful manner to preserve an ideal and united social environment, promote a virtuous lifestyle, and enrich the nation’s art and culture.

President Paudel expressed his hope that the Haritalika (Teej) festival of 2025 will contribute to enhancing the respectful participation of women in all sectors and strengthen social, cultural, and familial harmony.
