DAMAULI: The second phase of blacktopping has commenced in the Bagbazar section of Damauli Bazaar, the district headquarters of Tanahun, under the ongoing Muglin-Pokhara road expansion project.

The work began on Friday following the completion of the first phase.

The initial phase covered key intersections, including Safasadak Chowk and Tarkari Line Chowk in Damauli.

Currently, one-way blacktopping work is underway in the marketplace, according to Bishnu Prasad Pandey, Engineer at the Muglin-Pokhara Road Project (Eastern Section).

While the eastern section’s blacktopping has reached its final stages in other areas, progress in Damauli was delayed due to setbacks in clearing houses and temporary structures along the route.

So far, 82.95 percent of the work on this section has been completed.

Final blacktopping has been completed on 33.56 kilometers of the four-lane section and 3.2 kilometers of the two-lane section.

“To date, a total of 73.11 kilometers have been blacktopped on the two-lane track,” Pandey added.

The project was awarded to China Communication Construction, with a total value of Rs. 6.21 billion 3.13 million.

The road is being upgraded to four lanes with loan support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to accommodate growing traffic on the highway.
