Socialist front holds meeting to prepare for street protests

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Socialist Front is currently underway at the central office of the Unified Socialist Party in Aloknagar. The front includes the CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Nepal Samajbadi Party, and CPN.

According to Maoist General Secretary Dev Gurung, the meeting is focused on preparing for a mass demonstration at Bhrikutimandap on March 28, in response to the growing activities of royalist forces.

Meanwhile, royalist groups have also planned a protest on the same day. The meeting is also expected to discuss the government’s recent decision to remove Kulman Ghising as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Leaders of the Socialist Front have repeatedly criticized the government for failing to meet public expectations, which they believe has allowed royalist forces to gain momentum.
