PM Oli on Kulman Ghising’s dismissal: One removed, another appointed

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that no one has the power to take away the rights secured by the Nepali people through struggle.

Addressing a national volunteers’ gathering organized by the National Youth Association Nepal today, the UML Chairperson stressed that youth forces must be prepared to counter reactionary elements if necessary.

“No one can take away the rights we fought for. If anyone tries to put the country in trouble, the youth association will pounce like a tiger,” he said, adding that the volunteer initiative should be systematically mobilized as a disciplined, permanent force.

Regarding the removal of Kulman Ghising as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, PM Oli dismissed the backlash, stating, “The Prime Minister has already answered. One was removed, another was appointed. That’s it. It’s not our job to appoint whoever someone else suggests.”

He also expressed concern over opposition parties obstructing parliamentary proceedings to block the replacement bill for the ordinance, which must be passed by March 31.

The event was also attended by UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Politburo member Mahesh Basnet, and Youth Association Chair Kshitij Thebe, who highlighted the importance of the national volunteer campaign.
