NEPSE CEO appointment still pending

KATHMANDU: The appointment of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) remains unconfirmed, despite reports suggesting the appointment was made during the Council of Ministers’ meeting on March 24.

Various media outlets had reported that the appointment of the CEO was one of the key decisions taken during the meeting. However, upon reviewing the 19 decisions announced by the Council of Ministers, there was no mention of the NEPSE CEO’s appointment.

The government had earlier shortlisted five candidates out of 10 applicants for the NEPSE CEO position.

These candidates—Chudamani Chapagain, Narad Kumar Luitel, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemanta Basyal—were selected to present their business plans and participate in interviews for the role.

Despite media reports circulating that Narad Kumar Narad Kumar Luitel had been appointed as the new CEO, the official list of decisions released by the government, as presented by Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung, made no mention of the CEO’s appointment.

As the uncertainty continues, congratulations continue to pour in for Luintel, with many assuming his appointment to the position. However, the government has yet to officially confirm the CEO appointment.
