Kavre District Coordination Committee chief arrested in banking offence case



KATHMANDU: Deepak Kumar Gautam, the chief of Kavrepalanchowk District Coordination Committee, was arrested in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning on charges related to banking offences.

Gautam, who is affiliated with the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led Unified Socialist, was detained by a team from the New Baneshwor Police Circle in New Baneshwor.

The arrest follows a complaint filed against Gautam after several cheques he issued failed to clear during transactions with various individuals.

According to SP Apil Raj Bohora, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Circle, Gautam will be investigated further, and his detention period has been extended by the Kathmandu District Court.

He is currently in police custody at the Baneshwor Police Circle as investigations continue into the banking offence.
