Nepal’s title hopes shattered as Myanmar clinches Women’s Football Championship



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s long-standing dream of winning an international women’s football title remained unfulfilled after a 2-0 loss to Myanmar in the final of the International Women’s Football Championship at Dasharath Stadium.

Despite putting on an impressive performance, Nepal conceded the first goal in the 62nd minute.

Just two minutes later, Myanmar doubled their lead, crushing Nepal’s hopes of ending their title drought.

Head coach Rajendra Tamang, who led the squad, has now suffered three consecutive final defeats. This was Nepal’s 13th final, but once again, the team fell short.

Before Myanmar took the lead, Nepal launched nearly a dozen attacks, keeping the pressure high.

However, crucial misses from the strikers left the team frustrated, ultimately costing them the title.
