75 arrested for criminal activities in Pashupatinath premises



KATHMANDU: Police arrested 75 individuals involved in criminal activities during the Shivaratri fair in Kathmandu, according to District Police Range Kathmandu Spokesperson, SP Apil Raj Bohora.

The arrests were made from various locations where large crowds had gathered for the religious celebration. Those detained are currently held at the Metropolitan Police Range in Gaushala and District Police Range Bhadrakali.

SP Bohora stated that some of the arrested individuals were found causing disturbances after consuming marijuana, while others were involved in theft, including stealing chains from devotees attending the festival.

Authorities will decide on their release or further legal action after reviewing their past criminal records.

To ensure security during Shivaratri, around 4,000 personnel from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police were deployed in the Pashupati area and nearby checkpoints.
