Birgunj Customs Office sees rise in export



BIRGUNJ: Goods worth Rs 29.27 billion have been exported to different countries through the Birgunj Customs Office in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

The Office has stated that exports have increased by 100 percent, i.e. by Rs 14.71 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Exports have increased overall due to increased exports of processed soybean and sunflower oil to neighboring India during the first six months of the current fiscal year, said Information Officer of the Office Amit Tiwari.

In the first six months of the last fiscal year, goods worth Rs 14.56 billion were exported.

The office collected Rs 176.6 million in revenue from exports of goods and merchandise in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

In the same period of the previous fiscal year, it had collected Rs 103.81 million in revenue from exports.

Meanwhile, goods and merchandise worth Rs 277.15 million were imported through the Birgunj border transit in the first six months of the current fiscal year.

It was worth Rs 260 million in the first six months of the previous fiscal year. Imports have also increased by 6.45 percent in the corresponding period of the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year.
