Biplav calls for street protests to pressure formation of all-party government

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist) General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has announced plans for street protests to pressure the formation of an all-party government under the leadership of political parties.

Addressing a central committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist) in Kathmandu on Thursday, Biplav said the current government has failed to reflect the sentiments of Gen-Z youths. He stated that his party would launch street protests, together with Gen-Z activists, to demand the dissolution of the existing government and the formation of an all-party government.

He informed the meeting that a memorandum with a 10-day ultimatum has already been submitted to the President, calling for the formation of a new all-party government.

According to Biplav, the party’s demands include amending the constitution by invoking the principle of necessity, restructuring the state into a socialist federal model, and conducting a thorough investigation into all incidents related to the Gen-Z movement.

He claimed that no section of society is satisfied with the government formed after the Gen-Z movement and argued that the country currently lacks a clear path toward political resolution.

Biplav also said his party has demanded the formation of a high-level citizens’ commission to ensure an impartial investigation into corruption cases. Additionally, he called for the establishment of a powerful special court to hear corruption cases, insisting that its verdicts should be final and binding.

The Maoist leader said sustained pressure through street protests would be necessary to address what he described as deepening political and governance crises in the country.
