Porter dies due to altitude sickness



MANANG: A porter carrying load for a tourist died due to altitude sickness while returning from Kangla Phedi, Narpabhoomi Rural Municipality-4 in Manang district today.

The deceased has been identified by the police as 48-year-old Dil Bahadur Gurung from Kolasothar Rural Municipality-4, Lamjung.

Chief District Officer Nawaraj Paudyal said that Gurung, who fell ill due to altitude sickness, was rescued by helicopter today and sent to Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

Similarly, Samba Ghale, 49, from Kispang Rural Municipality–11, Nuwakot, died instantenously due to altitude sickness at Yak Kharka of Narpabhoomi–4 on Friday. He was carrying load for tourists.
