Swiss ambassador calls on Minister Ghising

KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Dr Danielle Meuwly, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, at his office in Singha Durbar today.

During the meeting, Ambassador Meuwly congratulated Minister Ghising and extended best wishes for a successful term.

On the occasion, they discussed the current implementation status of the projects currently operated with the support of the Swiss government, areas where support can be provided in the short and long term, Swiss investment, bilateral cooperation, among other topics.

Thanking the Swiss government for the assistance provided for Nepal’s development, Minister Ghising noted that the main priorities of the government formed after the Gen-Z movement are elections, the reconstruction of public and governmental structures damaged during the movement, and establishing good governance while instilling hope in the youth.

He urged support to provide necessary training to create employment through the establishment of small industries, to promote electric vehicles, to encourage the use of electricity as fuel for domestic purposes, to follow the tunnel technology adopted by Switzerland in road transport, and to promote green hydrogen energy.

Small irrigation programmes, bridge construction, technical assistance to Siddhababa Tunnel, and employment-oriented skill development training programmes are currently being implemented with Swiss support.
