Janardan Sharma attributes Gen-Z uprising to Maoist’s deviation from people’s war ideals

KATHMANDU: Janardan Sharma, Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Centre, has linked the recent Gen-Z protests to the party’s departure from the path of the people’s war. He made the remarks while presenting a proposal at the ongoing seventh Central Committee meeting of the party at Pragya Bhawan, Kathmandu.

Sharma argued that while the Nepali Congress and UML had already become corrupt, the Maoist party’s similar trajectory led to public frustration, which eventually manifested as the Gen-Z uprising. “We made immense sacrifices during the people’s war, but when the Maoists began following the same corrupt path as Congress and UML, the public’s disillusionment grew into anger, resulting in the Gen-Z protests,” he stated.

During the meeting, Sharma also proposed that all party office-bearers should resign, with a guarantee that a directorial committee under Prachanda’s leadership would be formed during this Central Committee session to guide the party forward.
