Prachanda proposes dissolving Central Committee

KATHMANDU: Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, has proposed dissolving the party’s current Central Committee and forming a preparatory committee under his leadership to organize a special party congress.

The proposal was presented during the party’s 7th full Central Committee meeting at Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi, on Thursday. Prachanda highlighted that the party’s internal elections must take place on schedule and that attention should remain focused on the upcoming national polls, according to Maoist leaders attending the meeting.

The move is seen as a step to streamline the party’s organizational structure and prepare for leadership transitions in line with a special congress. Discussions on the proposal will continue, with representatives from each province providing feedback to the central leadership.
