Authorities resume efforts to clear Tuinkhola landslide

KATHMANDU: Work to clear a landslide near Tuinkhola along the Muglin–Narayangadh road section resumed at 6 am on Thursday, according to Bharatpur officials.

Heavy rainfall on Wednesday night had halted operations, but machines have now been deployed from both sides of the blockage. Authorities cautioned that it will take time to fully remove the debris and restore traffic.

The major landslide struck near the Tuinkhola bridge around 5 pm on Tuesday, completely blocking vehicular movement along the vital highway. With Dashain travel season underway, the closure has severely disrupted daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

The Road Division Office, Bharatpur, has urged the public to use alternative routes until clearance is complete. Officials noted that despite the heavy rain overnight, no new landslides occurred, allowing clearance efforts to resume on Thursday morning.
