KATHMANDU: Scrap dealers has staged a protest in front of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) office at Kamaladi on Monday, putting forward a five-point demand.

They called for protection of their constitutional right to engage in their profession, an immediate end to alleged assaults, abductions, and demolition of their structures by KMC authorities, and legal action against metropolitan police personnel involved in such incidents.

The protesters also demanded government intervention to guarantee the safety of scrap workers and collectors, and compensation for damages they say were inflicted by KMC over the past two years.
