Couple electrocuted while cutting grass dies during treatment in Surkhet

SURKHET: A couple has died after being electrocuted while cutting grass at their home in Birendranagar Municipality-12, Neware.

According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, 55-year-old Dhaniram Acharya and his 50-year-old wife Dhankumari Upadhyaya sustained serious injuries while using an electric grass-cutting machine. The incident occurred on Friday morning.

Both victims were immediately rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Kalagaun, Surkhet, for treatment but died during the course of medical care, said DSP Mohan Jung Budthapa, spokesperson for the District Police Office.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a fault in the power connection to the electric lawn mower may have caused the accident. Police say further investigation is underway.
