KATHMANDU: The government has approved the Industry and Commerce Promotion Council Order, 2025, as part of its recent Cabinet decisions.
Announcing the decisions made during the June 23 Cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar, government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung said the order was endorsed based on the proposal put forward by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
The meeting also extended the tenure of Armed Police Force Deputy Inspector Generals Kalidas Dhauvajhi and Kumar Nyaupane. In addition, the tenure of two Major Generals in the Nepali Army has been extended, one Brigadier General has been promoted to Major General, and two Major Generals have been transferred.
The Cabinet has approved providing awards and honors to 27 individuals, including players, coaches, assistant coaches, and managers, who won medals in international volleyball, wushu, and kabaddi competitions. The meeting also approved the National Sports Policy 2025 and a five-year National Strategy for Statistics System Development.
Regarding the controversial “visit visa” issue, spokesperson Gurung reiterated that the government has formed a probe committee and urged opposition parties to trust the process. He called for constructive suggestions to ensure the committee functions without hindrance.
The June 23 meeting decided to form a seven-member high-level investigation and study committee under the leadership of former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi. The committee includes joint secretaries from various ministries and is tasked with addressing long-standing issues related to immigration and visit visas.
