Long-delayed roadworks leave Kathmanduites stranded in mud

KATHMANDU: Road construction delays in Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Wards 16 and 26 continue to disrupt daily life for residents, with incomplete works and poor road conditions creating serious public inconvenience.

In Ward 16, the road in front of Amrit School on Nirmal Lama Marg remains unfinished despite years of delay. Following public pressure, gravel work has only recently begun, but the road remains largely unusable.

Meanwhile, in Ward 26, drainage work on Mhepi Road began in Magh and was completed in Jestha, yet the remaining construction has stalled. The road is now muddy and difficult to navigate.

Locals, including schoolchildren, pedestrians, and motorcyclists, face daily challenges due to the poor state of both roads. Despite repeated concerns from the community, no clear timeline for completion has been provided.
