Six parliamentary committees, including State Affairs, to meet today



KATHMANDU: Six parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled to meet today. The meetings will take place at Singha Durbar between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The committees convening are the Finance Committee; State Affairs and Good Governance Committee; Infrastructure Development Committee; Legislative Management Committee; Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee; and the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee.

The Finance Committee will discuss a petition submitted by the Nepal Ayurveda Medicine Manufacturers Association concerning the proposed value-added tax (VAT) on Ayurvedic medicines under the Finance Bill. It will also deliberate on the tax-related provisions and proposed tax rates outlined in the bill.

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will hold a preliminary discussion on the bill to amend the Nepal Police Act.

The Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee plans to review recent on-site monitoring activities and discuss a draft report based on their findings.

Meanwhile, the Public Accounts Committee will review its recent field observation program conducted in Dolakha and other areas of Bagmati Province.

The Infrastructure Development Committee is set to review the progress of the Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Project.

Similarly, the Legislative Management Committee will discuss the Customs Bill, 2080, in principle.
