Shantinagar Rural Municipality to cover residents’ electricity bills

DANG: Shantinagar Rural Municipality in Dang has announced it will cover the electricity bills of its residents.

As per the newly unveiled policy, program, and budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83, the municipality will pay the minimum electricity tariff for its residents.

Municipality Chairperson Pramod Basnet stated that the municipality will pay for up to 20 units of electricity per household. “This initiative was introduced in response to public demand. It’s a new program under Lumbini Province,” he said.

The initiative is part of a broader campaign titled ‘The Desire of Shantinagar Residents: Bright Shantinagar’. Under the plan, the municipality will pay the minimum tariff for all consumers in the rural municipality directly to the Nepal Electricity Authority.

Chairperson Basnet expressed hope that the program will help ensure energy access for all citizens.

Additionally, the municipality has announced incentive funds for students pursuing studies in medicine and piloting, based on specified criteria.

National-level athletes from the municipality will also receive incentives to promote youth engagement in sports.
