Rs 2.15 billion collected from non-life insurance in Madhes Province

PARSA: The Nepal Insurance Authority’s Madhes Province Office has collected Rs 2.15 billion in non-life insurance premiums over the first nine months of the current fiscal year. During this period, a total of 259,475 non-life insurance policies were issued.

So far, 7,124 individuals have filed non-life insurance claims worth Rs 1.626 billion. Of those, Rs 1.843 billion has already been paid to 5,585 claimants, according to the office.

However, Preeti Dev, Chief of the Authority’s Madhes Province Office, stated that public interest in insurance remains lower than expected, largely due to inadequate public awareness campaigns in the province.

In the life insurance segment, the office collected Rs 11.16 billion in premiums over the same nine-month period, with 86,670 life insurance policies issued in Madhes Province. The province contributed 9.24 percent to the national total of life insurance premium collections.
