Tremors felt in Sindhupalchowk on 10th anniversary of Gorkha Earthquake



KATHMANDU: Tremors were felt in Sindhupalchowk today, marking the 10th anniversary of the Gorkha earthquake.

Lokvijay Adhikari, chief of the National Seismology and Research Center, informed Nepalkhabar that a 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 11:53 am on Friday, with its epicenter located in Phulpingkot, Sindhupalchowk.

According to the center, this aftershock is the 603rd occurrence of a magnitude four or higher since the Gorkha earthquake.

On 12 Baisakh, 2072 BS, at 11:56 am, a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Barpak, Gorkha, causing widespread destruction.

The most significant damage from the Gorkha earthquake was reported in Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha. Tremors were also felt in Rukumpar last night.
