Deuba reaffirms full support to PM Oli  amid Kulman’s dismissal

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has reiterated his and his party’s full support for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, just a day after the government dismissed Kulman Ghising as Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.

Speaking at a public event on Tuesday, Deuba emphasized that there are no issues within the government and reaffirmed the Congress party’s cooperation with the ruling coalition.

His remarks were made in the presence of PM Oli and other senior leaders, including Shekhar Koirala and Shashank Koirala.

Addressing the launch event of Sujata Koirala’s autobiography, ‘Ma Ra Mero Sanubuwa’, held at Baluwatar, Deuba recalled his long-standing relationship with Oli.

“PM Oli and I have been friends since our days in prison. We were even in the same detention block. Our relationship has always been strong, and we are working together in government as well. Congress fully supports him,” Deuba stated.

This statement comes despite opposition within the Congress party regarding Ghising’s removal.

Party General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma, along with Dr. Koirala, had previously distanced the party from the decision.

However, Deuba’s remarks indicate his backing for the move, which was executed by Energy Minister Deepak Khadka with approval from the Congress leadership at Budhanilkantha.
