Fire at Shangrila Timber Industry in Dang still uncontrolled

DANG: A fire that started at the Shangrila Timber Industry in Dang on Sunday night remains uncontrollable.

According to Chakra Bahadur Shah, Spokesperson and DSP of the District Police Office, the fire has been raging since 1 am on Sunday, and despite ongoing efforts, it has not yet been brought under control.

To fight the blaze, fire engines from Banke, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, and Dang have been mobilized. Currently, eight fire engines are working to extinguish the fire, but the situation remains challenging.

DSP Shah explained that the difficulty in controlling the fire is due to the large quantities of plywood and wood materials used in the industry, which are fueling the flames.

The fire has caused significant damage, estimated to be in the crore range, but details regarding the exact extent of the losses are yet to be confirmed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A large team of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, Municipal Police, and local volunteers have been deployed to assist in firefighting efforts.
