Janamat calls Council meeting to discuss party unification

KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party, led by Dr. CK Raut, has called a meeting of its National Council Committee.

Spokesperson Sharad Singh Yadav confirmed that the meeting was scheduled following a decision made during the Janamat Party Central Secretariat Committee meeting.

The meeting will take place on Friday, (March 28), at 9 am in Min-Baneshwor, according to him.

Yadav stated that the primary agenda of the meeting will be to discuss the ongoing unification process with the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP).

Currently, the two parties are in discussions regarding various processes for unification. The proposed name for the unified party is expected to be the Nagarik Janamat Party.

An agreement has been reached that Dr. Raut will serve as the party chairperson.

NUP’s patron, Resham Chaudhary, will be designated as the patron, while NUP chairperson Ranjita Shrestha will serve as the co-chairperson.

Additionally, discussions are ongoing to adopt NUP’s ‘Dhakiya’ as the election symbol for the new party.

Spokesperson Yadav also noted that a six-member task force from both parties is currently working on finalizing the party statute.
