Maoist Tarai-Madhes awakening campaign reaches Morang

MORANG: The central team of the Maoist Tarai-Madhes Awakening Campaign, led by Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ arrived in Morang today as part of the campaign launched from Kachankawal, Jhapa, on Monday.

Continuing the initiative aimed at strengthening party ties and addressing grievances in the Terai-Madhes region, Dahal, accompanied by central office bearers, visited the family of martyr Laxmi Phuyal in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-6, Morang.

The visit marked the beginning of the day’s program, emphasizing the party’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices made during the People’s War.

During his interaction with the martyr’s family, Dahal assured them that all martyrs of the People’s War had been declared national martyrs. He pledged that justice and compensation would be provided to the victims’ families through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

The families of the martyrs urged the Maoist party to strengthen its organizational base to ensure that the sacrifices made by their loved ones would not go in vain.

They called on the party to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs and suggested the establishment of a memorial calendar to commemorate the day every year. Additionally, they recommended building a martyr’s park in the martyr’s village to preserve the legacy of the People’s War.

Under the campaign, which follows the theme of ‘One Day, One District,’ the central team is organizing three major programs today across different locations in Morang. Meetings are scheduled to be held at Ralam Bazaar, Ambari Ratuwamai, and Karsiya Dhanpalthan in Kanepokhari, Morang.

The campaign, which began in Jhapa, aims to mobilize party members, connect with grassroots supporters, and address local issues across Tarai-Madhes districts. Through public meetings and direct interactions, the party hopes to revive its political influence in the region while reaffirming its commitment to justice and development.

The campaign continues tomorrow in other districts as the party leadership aims to strengthen its presence and address the aspirations of the people in Tarai-Madhes.
