65 drinking water, irrigation and river control projects underway in Myagdi

POKHARA: The Gandaki Province Government has initiated 65 projects this year focusing on drinking water, irrigation, and river control in Myagdi district.

The Drinking Water, Water Resource, and Irrigation Division Office, Myagdi, has launched 36 drinking water projects, 20 irrigation projects, six river control projects, two energy projects, and one survey-related project with a total budget of Rs 143.85 million.

Senior Division Engineer Jhalak Mohan Ojha, the office chief, reported that contracts for 26 projects have been finalized, while cost estimates for 38 projects are being prepared for implementation. “In line with the province government’s policy, projects without direct user participation have been executed through contracts,” Ojha said.

He noted that during the first six months of the current fiscal year, financial progress has reached 18.19 percent, while physical progress stands at 48 percent. So far, over Rs 25.8 million has been utilized as capital expenditure.

The office also disclosed allocations from federal grants, including Rs 5.1 million for five water supply projects under a federal conditional grant and Rs 6.5 million for the Ratnechaur Lift Drinking Water Scheme under a federal special grant.

Additionally, the province government has allocated Rs 138.785 million for 30 drinking water, 20 irrigation, six river control, and two energy projects, signaling a significant investment in Myagdi’s water resource management and infrastructure development.
