RPP and RPP Nepal announce party unification

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal have officially agreed to unite.

The decision was reached following discussions between RPP Chairperson Rajendra Lingden and RPP Nepal Chairperson Kamal Thapa on Wednesday, according to Thapa.

Kamal Thapa had announced his separation from RPP on Magh 25, 2078 (February 8, 2022) after losing to Lingden in the party’s general convention. Following the defeat, Thapa alleged interference by former King Gyanendra Shah and the Narayanhiti Palace in the party’s internal election.

He later announced the formation of RPP Nepal on Falgun 7, 2078 (February 19, 2022).

The unification brings the two royalist parties back together after nearly three years of separation.
