Election Commission appoints officials for National Assembly polls, seven provincial offices set up



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has established provincial offices and appointed election officers in all seven provinces for the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25.

According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, district judges have been appointed as election officers for the polls.

The appointments are as follows: Bhimraj Prasai in Koshi Province, Shubhnath Puri in Madhesh, Geeta Shrestha in Bagmati, Himal Belwase in Gandaki, Prakash Raj Pandit in Lumbini, Deepak Dhakal in Karnali, and Bhuvan Singh Thapa in Sudurpashchim.

Nineteen vacant National Assembly seats will be contested starting March 4.

The election schedule includes the publication of the voters’ list on January 3 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by claims, objections, and scrutiny. The final voters’ list will be published on January 6 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Candidate nomination will take place on January 7 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with objections against candidates accepted on January 8 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Candidates can withdraw their nominations on January 11 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and the final candidate list will be published from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm the same day.

On January 12, candidates will be allotted election symbols from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Voting at designated polling centers will take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
