Petroleum products worth Rs 7.84 billion imported in five months



JHAPA: In the first five months of the current fiscal year 2025/26, imports of petroleum products through the eastern border post of Kakarbhitta have reached Rs 7.84 billion, reflecting a steady increase compared to the same period last year.

The imports include petrol, diesel, LP gas, ATF, and kerosene. According to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, Information Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, imports of petroleum products have increased by Rs 235.27 million, or 3.10 percent, compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year 2024/25. With this rise in imports, revenue from petroleum products has also grown by 2.50 percent, amounting to Rs 94.295 million, he added.

Office statistics show that a total revenue of Rs 3.864 billion has been collected from petroleum product imports in the five months of the current fiscal year. During this period, 43,160 kiloliters of petrol, worth Rs 3.827 billion, and 26,120 kiloliters of diesel, worth Rs 2.531 billion, were imported.

Similarly, 10,480 metric tons of LP gas, worth Rs 1.16 billion, 3,580 kiloliters of ATF, worth Rs 328.2 million, and 680 kiloliters of kerosene, worth Rs 63.1 million, were also imported.
