61 parties registered for House of Representatives election



KATHMANDU: A total of 61 political parties have so far registered with the Election Commission to participate in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026, the Commission confirmed on Monday.

Speaking to the media, Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that while 132 parties are currently registered with the Commission, 61 have completed formal registration specifically for the upcoming election. The Commission is prioritizing party registration to ensure maximum participation.

Bhattarai further stated that following the announcement of the House of Representatives election, 837,000 citizens have submitted applications for new voter registration as of November 21.

After processing these applications, the final voter list for those turning 18 by March 4 will be published. Any errors or complaints in the draft voter list can be corrected between December 7 and 13. Once corrections are completed, the Election Commission plans to release the final voter list on December 30.
