Animal and poultry treatment centers under construction in 25 municipalities of Madhes Province

JANAKPURDHAM: The federal government is constructing animal and poultry treatment centers in 25 municipalities of Madhes Province, out of its 136 municipalities, under a major infrastructure development initiative.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, with loan assistance from the World Bank, is building earthquake-resistant and well-equipped centers for the treatment and testing of agricultural and livestock-related diseases. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 750 million.

The construction is being carried out by the Economic Corridor Office Bardibas, under the Rural Enterprise and Economic Development Project of the ministry. According to the project office, the cost of constructing one center ranges from Rs 30 million to Rs 50 million.

The centers will include state-of-the-art laboratories for soil testing for agriculture; animal disease diagnosis and treatment; and testing of animal dung and milk products.

“All buildings will follow a uniform design and will be technologically advanced,” said Rajesh Sah, Chief of the Economic Corridor Office.

Each two-storey building will feature separate treatment rooms and labs for agriculture and livestock, and also include two commercial shutters for selling affordable veterinary and agricultural medicines.

Sah further informed that construction work in 14 of the 25 municipalities has already been completed.

In a recent development, a well-equipped center constructed in Tetaria, Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City-17, was officially handed over to Mayor Manoj Kumar Sah. The building was completed at a cost of Rs 22 million, including VAT.
