Nearly 300 dengue cases reported in Sudurpaschim over eight months



SUDURPASCHIM: Over the past eight months, nearly 300 people have been diagnosed with dengue fever across various districts in Sudurpaschim Province.

According to the Health Directorate in Dipayal, a total of 288 dengue cases were confirmed during the period, with Kailali district reporting the highest number, followed by Achham and Kanchanpur. Specifically, Kailali recorded 65 cases, Achham reported 41, and Kanchanpur saw 32 infections.

Even the mountainous regions of the province were affected, with Darchula and Bajura reporting four and 18 cases, respectively. Meanwhile, 88 cases were detected in Dadeldhura, Doti, Bajhang, and Baitadi combined.

Vector Control Officer Hemraj Joshi from the Directorate urged residents to remain vigilant from June through October, noting that dengue transmission peaks during these months.

He emphasized the importance of community-level efforts to locate and destroy mosquito larvae to prevent further outbreaks.
