Three killed, 13 injured in Bajura jeep accident; victims airlifted by Army chopper



BAJURA: At least three people were killed and 13 others injured in a jeep accident in Himali Rural Municipality of Bajura district on Thursday morning. The incident occurred when a passenger jeep heading from Kyudi village to the ward office in Kawadi veered off a rough road and crashed, reportedly due to overloading.

According to Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary of the District Police Office, two passengers died at the scene, while a third succumbed to injuries during rescue.

The ill-fated vehicle, bearing registration number Ba Pa 03–001 Ja 0338, was carrying more passengers than its capacity, authorities said.

Of the injured, five: jeep driver Gauri Budha (23), Bachlal Rokaya (35), Bhadouri Rokaya (70), Banchdhan Rokaya (22), and Bir Bahadur Rokaya (45), were airlifted to the Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet by a Nepali Army helicopter, said Assistant Chief District Officer Shital Bahadur Rawal. The rescue was carried out in multiple sorties due to limited capacity.

The deceased were identified as Bijoura Rokaya (76) and Banchkala Rokaya (75), who died at the scene, and Juneli Rokaya (35), who died while being airlifted.

Following the accident, Himali Rural Municipality mobilized ambulances and health personnel to support the rescue operation.
