Total dengue infections cross 2,200 in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 147 new dengue cases in the past week, pushing the total number of confirmed infections this year to 2,238, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).

The mosquito-borne disease is spreading steadily across the country, with infections now detected in 73 districts. In the last 24 hours alone, five new cases have been confirmed.

Bagmati Province leads with the highest weekly tally (10), followed by Koshi (6), Gandaki (5), Lumbini (4), Madhesh (2), and Karnali (1), the EDCD said.

Health officials have expressed concern as the monsoon intensifies, providing favorable breeding conditions for mosquitoes. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant, eliminate stagnant water sources, and seek early medical attention in case of symptoms.
