Two Nepalis rescued from Iran with India’s help arrive in New Delhi

KATHMANDU: Two Nepali nationals rescued from war-torn Iran with the assistance of the Indian government have arrived in New Delhi.

According to the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, Ganesh Prasad Pokhrel and Suman Gaire were brought to India alongside Indian citizens during the country’s evacuation operation from Iran. Both individuals have now begun their journey back to Nepal.

Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, had earlier requested the Indian government’s support in rescuing Nepali citizens stranded in Iran. In response, India agreed to assist in the evacuation of Nepalis as part of its broader operation.

It is estimated that over a hundred Nepalis are currently in Iran.
