ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cup: Nepal to face Japan today



KATHMANDU: Nepal will play its second match of the ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cricket Tournament today against Japan.

Nepal made a strong start in the tournament by defeating Singapore on Sunday, June 22, earning two points from the win. In the match held at the UKM Oval Cricket Ground in Malaysia, Nepal secured a six-wicket victory while chasing a target of 139 runs.

Nepal reached the target in 33.3 overs, losing four wickets. Opener Prasiddha Jaisi top-scored with an unbeaten 55 runs off 97 balls, including five fours. Raunak Srivastava added 40 runs to the total. For Singapore, Akash Teja took three wickets and Yuvan Pandey claimed one.

Earlier, Singapore chose to bat first after winning the toss and was bowled out for 138 runs in 36.1 overs. Captain Riyan Nayak scored a team-high 53 runs.

Ten teams are participating in the tournament, held under the annual calendar of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Nepal is in Group ‘A’ alongside Singapore, Indonesia, Bhutan, and Japan. Group ‘B’ includes hosts Malaysia, Hong Kong, Maldives, Thailand, and Myanmar.
