IT associations submit 41-point feedback on e-governance blueprint



KATHMANDU: Three leading associations from Nepal’s information technology sector have submitted a 41-point feedback on the “E-Governance Blueprint 2024,” a strategic plan aimed at transforming the government’s public service delivery system into a more digital, transparent, and effective model.

The Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN Federation), the Center for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CSRI Nepal), and the Information Security Response Team Nepal (NPCERT) jointly presented their feedback to Chunamani Poudel, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, on Friday.

CAN Federation Acting President Chiranjivi Adhikari expressed confidence that key policy approaches—such as the “Digital by Default” strategy, promotion of public-private partnerships, and the “One Citizen – One Dashboard” concept—would pave the way toward an inclusive digital future.

He highlighted the importance of strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing digital literacy, and prioritizing emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain.

CSRI Nepal President Dr. Shaligram Parajuli noted that the blueprint aligns well with the Digital Nepal Framework and would enhance the effectiveness and accessibility of government services through better coordination.

Meanwhile, NPCERT President Dr. Rajiv Subba underscored the need to prioritize data security. He advocated for the establishment of strong cybersecurity standards, robust data protection policies, and secure cross-border data transfer mechanisms.

Receiving the feedback, Secretary Poudel reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector and assured that the suggestions would be seriously considered to enhance the effectiveness of the blueprint.

The E-Governance Blueprint 2024 is built on seven strategic pillars: strengthening digital infrastructure, delivering citizen-centric services, human resource development, fostering innovation, updating legal frameworks, promoting coordination, and ensuring systematic evaluation.

Key initiatives in the blueprint include the development of a national cloud, rural internet expansion, a unified digital dashboard, enhancement of the Citizen App, implementation of a real-time feedback mechanism, promotion of green IT practices, and providing services in local languages.
