SEE exam cheating confirmed through WhatsApp, invigilators expelled

INARUWA: Mobile phones were used in cheating during the ongoing Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in Sunsari, leading to the expulsion of two invigilators caught aiding students via WhatsApp.

At the Saraswati Secondary School Examination Centre in Inaruwa-9, two invigilators were arrested after a monitoring team, including Chief District Officer (CDO) Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, found them using a mobile phone to facilitate cheating.

When the team arrived at the center, the invigilators quickly switched off their phones, but upon investigation, it was revealed that they had been communicating through WhatsApp with students.

The messages in the WhatsApp group contained student details, such as names, symbol numbers, and their respective schools, confirming their involvement in the malpractice.

The arrested teachers, Shrawan Kumar Chaudhary and Ramananda Mehta, have been expelled from their invigilator duties.

Additionally, three other invigilators were detained at the Bhagwati Secondary School Examination Centre for actions that violated examination protocols. Mukendra Yadav, Ramananda Yadav, and Dinesh Prasad Yadav, all from Inaruwa-5, have been held on charges of breaching the examination code of conduct.

Sunsari Superintendent of Police, Suman Timsina, confirmed that further investigations are ongoing. In light of these incidents, the Sunsari administration has instructed relevant authorities to enhance security checks at exam centers, following concerns over mobile phones being allowed during the exams.

This comes after the expulsion of two invigilators from Duhabi for allegedly taking bribes from students.
