KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Dhruv Kumar Upreti, an absconding employee of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), who was convicted in a corruption case.
Upreti, 65, a resident of Banasthali, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, was arrested from Banasthali on Sunday. CIB spokesperson Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Shahi confirmed the arrest.
The Supreme Court had found Upreti, an assistant manager at the NEA, guilty of corruption on November 27, 2024, and sentenced him to six months in prison.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25.516 million. After the verdict, Upreti had been absconding.
Following his arrest, he was produced before the Kathmandu District Court for execution of the verdict and has been sent to Dillibazaar Jail, according to Superintendent Shahi.
