Maoist Center again postpones Tarai-Madhes awareness campaign

KATHMANDU: The Maoist Center has postponed its Postal (Hulaki Marga) Highway-focused Tarai-Madhes awareness campaign for an additional five days.

The delay is due to preparations for a large-scale public demonstration organized by the Socialist Front, which includes the Maoist Center, scheduled for March 28 in Kathmandu in support of the republic, according to Govinda Acharya, press advisor to Chairman Prachanda.

The campaign will resume from March 29.

While there are no events planned for the campaign today, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is currently in Chitwan. He is expected to arrive in Kathmandu this evening.

This evening, a meeting is scheduled between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, ruling Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Prachanda, who also leads the main opposition party, at Singha Durbar.

The awareness campaign, which began in Kachankawal, Jhapa, was briefly suspended after reaching Rautahat.

The Maoist Center has stated that the campaign has already covered Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, and Chitwan.

The campaign is scheduled to continue through Nawalpur, Nawalparasi West, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Bardiya, Banke, and Kailali, eventually reaching Kanchanpur.
