ABU DHABI: The Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi has conducted an awareness program to educate Nepali workers on policy, legal, and procedural issues related to good labor governance.

As part of the program, the embassy conducted a mobile camp in Ujarekh, located 300 kilometers east of Abu Dhabi, to raise awareness and provide passport and consular services.

More than 300 Nepalis participated in the camp, where they were informed about the labor laws of Nepal and the UAE.

The awareness session covered a range of topics, including the benefits of sending remittances through formal channels, procedures for re-issuing work permits from the Nepali Embassy and the UAE, and financial literacy.

The passports of 216 Nepalis residing in Fujairah and nearby areas were also renewed during the mobile camp.

With approximately 600,000 Nepalis working in the UAE, the embassy has been actively providing services to cater to their needs within its available resources. In the last fiscal year, the embassy issued 46,400 passports, and 30,000 passports have been issued by the end of January of the current fiscal year.

The embassy has emphasized that priority is given to renewing passports for those whose passports have expired, visas have expired, or those who have lost their passports and are facing difficulties. The initiative reflects the embassy’s commitment to ensuring better labor governance and the welfare of Nepali workers in the UAE.
