Tiger found dead in Banke

KATHMANDU: A tiger was found dead in the core area of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-1 in Banke on Thursday.

The carcass was discovered by a patrol team this morning, according to Mandeep Pangeni, Information Officer of Banke National Park.

Based on the condition of the body, it is estimated that the tiger had died several days ago, as its hindquarters had been consumed by wild animals.

Pangeni suggested that the tiger might have died two or three years ago, and it is believed to be around 12 to 13 years old.

Birendra Kandel, Chief of Banke National Park, confirmed that the tiger’s death appeared to be from natural causes.

He added that a medical team from Bardiya National Park would conduct a forensic examination of the deceased tiger.

Kandel also shared that the patrol team regularly inspects the core area and buffer zones of the park in the morning, afternoon, and evening to ensure the safety and protection of wildlife.
